Sunderland are set to confirm the permanent signing of Rubin Kazan midfielder Yann M'Vila. The Frenchman joined the Black Cats on a temporary basis last summer, and played a key role in their quest to avoid the drop.

M'Vila, 26, was hugely successful in his loan stint at Wearside, and this has urged new boss David Moyes to secure his services on a long-term deal.

According to The Sunderland Echo, the Black Cats have been in discussions with Rubin in recent weeks, and a deal is likely to be finalized before the start of the new campaign.

The Black Cats had a future fee clause on the player's contract, but they were inclined to negotiate a lesser sum than the &pound8m fee previously quoted.

M'Vila has been training apart from his Rubin teammates, and he is likely to earn a Premier League return in the coming days.
