AC Milan are set to head-to-head with Valencia for the services of Manchester City defender Eliaquim Mangala. The Frenchman is deemed surplus to requirements at the Etihad.
Mangala has failed to convince manager Pep Guardiola of his abilities, and he is likely to head through the exit door before the transfer deadline.
The Star says the Rossoneri are eyeing a loan contract for the player with an obligation for a permanent switch at the end of the season, whilst Valencia are willing to pay an £18m fee outright as they seek to attain a top-four finish to the La Liga season.
Mangala joined the Citizens from Portuguese side Porto in 2014, and has since appeared in 48 league outings. He was severely criticized last term as he struggled to keep up with the English game.
