Reading have confirmed the arrival of young defender Tyler Blackett from Manchester United for an undisclosed fee. The England Under-21 international has ended his long-term association with the Red Devils after he was deemed surplus to requirements under Jose Mourinho.
Blackett, who made his senior debut for United in the 2014-15 season, spent the previous campaign on loan with Scottish champions Celtic. He has now penned a three-year at the Madejski Stadium in the search for regular first-team football.
"As we know, Tyler is a talented defender who has played for United's first team," manager Jaap Stam told the club's official website.
"He can play as a left-back or a left-sided centre-back; he has got great potential in the sense that he is quick and athletic, defensively he is strong and he is good at set-pieces."
The 22-year-old will wear the number 24 shirt at the Championship outfit.
