Everton are apparently eyeing a shock raid for Mario Balotelli from arch-rivals Liverpool. The Italian has struggled to find a new club due to his reluctance to take a pay-cut.
The 26-year-old joined the Reds from AC Milan in 2014, and had a dismal stint in the Premier League. He followed to return to the Rossoneri on a temporary basis last season, but his performances were not anywhere near his standard.
According to Gazzetta World, the Toffees have alerted their Merseyside rivals of the desire to sign the Italy international. It is added that the club have no issues in matching the player's £6m-a-year wages.
Balotelli is likely to wait until deadline day to decide on his future with interest high among several Italian clubs whilst Crystal Palace and West Bromwich are also keeping an eye on his situation.
