Manchester United midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger will play no part in the Europa League group stages after he failed to make the 27-man squad for the competition.
The 32-year-old was named in the Red Devils' Premier League squad on Friday despite manager Jose Mourinho suggesting that he would struggle for first-team action during the campaign.
It has now been revealed that the German, who call quits on his international career earlier this week, will not feature in the club's European fixtures against Feyenoord, Fenerbahce and Zorya Luhansk.
Jose Mourinho has been criticized for the ill-treatment of Schweinsteiger in recent weeks, but this has not overturned his decision to leave the player out of the 27-man squad registered with UEFA.
Schweinsteiger was offered a possible exit from Old Trafford this summer, but he turned down the chance in a bid to prolong his career at the Mancunian giants.
