Chelsea could make a surprise U-turn by handing a new long-term contract to midfielder Conor Gallagher this summer.
The Englishman was almost ever-present for the Blues in the Premier League last term and he was one of their stand-out performers.
Despite this, he has been linked with a possible exit this summer with the club needing to balancing their books before the end of June.
Gallagher's sale would provide pure profit for the Blues, but it appears the hierarchy are now planning to change their stance on him.
With the uproar from the fans in recent weeks, the club are willing to open talks over a new contract with the England international.
Keeping him at the club may not disrupt their summer plans with Trevoh Chalobah, Armando Broja and Ian Maatsen set to be sold.
Broja is on the radar of Everton while Maatsen is wanted by Dortmund. Chelsea could receive close to £50 million with their exits.
