Everton striker Romelu Lukaku is confident that he will get back on the scoresheet once he recovers from a minor niggle which has hampered his start to the new campaign.

  • The 23-year-old, who was strongly tipped to join Chelsea over the summer, has yet to open his goalscoring account this season due to fitness issues.

When asked on his present situation, the Belgian international insisted that he is striving to get back to his old self, and the transfer speculation has nothing to do with his performance on the field.

"I just went on holiday and when I came back the last game before the season started I had an injury. It kept me out for a long time. I couldn't do anything with it," he told reporters.

"So now for me it's just my pre-season phase so I'm working really hard to be 100 percent fit. As soon as I'm fit the goals will come for sure."

Lukaku joined Everton on a season-long loan from Chelsea in 2013 before the moved was made permanent for £28m a year later. He has netted 61 goals in 127 games for the Merseysiders till date.
