Manchester United will reportedly need to pay £15 million to sign River Plate goalkeeper Santiago Beltran in January.
The Argentine is regarded as one of the best young goalkeepers, and he has been touted to replace Emiliano Martinez as the first-choice keeper for his country in the long run.
His progress has caught the eye of United and Atletico, and reports claim that River are open to the possibility of selling him at the turn of the year.
Beltran has also given the green light to make the switch to Europe. Atletico seem best placed to sign him at this point, according to UOL Esporte.
The Madrid giants are eyeing a successor to Jan Oblak next season, and joining in January would give Beltran a chance to adapt.
United, on the other hand, want a proper back-up behind Senne Lammens, whose performances have come under the radar this campaign.
The Belgian has been unconvincing from long-range shots, and United feel they need another young shot-stopper to compete for the spot.
