Manchester United are ready to sell defender Phil Jones when the transfer window opens in January, according to reports.
Multiple reports in the English media claim that Manchester United are willing to part ways with England defender Phil Jones in January, having grown frustrated at the 24-year-old’s continuous injury problems.
Joined Moved to Old Trafford in 2011 while still a teenager. United forked out £16.5 million for the youngster who, at the time, was viewed as a potential future star, and the kind of player who could someday captain England.
But the former Blackburn Rovers man has struggled with a series of injuries during his time in Manchester, and has also been rotated through centre-back, right-back and midfield position, without being able to hold onto a starting place in any of these roles.
All of the above has caused Jones’ progression to suffer, and he has not been able to develop onto the player that many hoped he would become when he first joined United.
And the Red Devils now seem ready to listen to offers for the England international, with rivals Liverpool and Arsenal reported to hold an interest in Jones.
It was also reported towards the end of the summer transfer window that Stoke City were considering a loan move for Jones, but, ultimately, the defender remained with United, and he has not featured for Jose Mourinho’s men at all so far this season.
