Sunderland, Swansea target Federico Santander

Black Cats, Swans interested in Santander

Sunderland, Swansea target Federico Santander

27 September 2016 - 07:31

Premier League duo Sunderland and Swansea City are keeping a close watch on Copenhagen striker Federico Santander. The Paraguay international joined the Danish champions from native side Guaraní in 2015.

  • Chelsea ready new contract for star midfielder
  • Chelsea make first move to sign Xabi Alonso

  • The pair have made a dismal start to their campaign with the Black Cats rockbottom of the league standings while the Swans are three places above in 17th.

According to The Sun, Santander has captured interest from the English clubs following his excellent progress in Copenhagen, where he has netted 17 goals till date.

Swansea City lost the services of Andre Ayew during the previous transfer window, and this has sort of weakened their attack with Fernando Llorente just about gaining his mojo following his Premier League move.

On the other hand, the Black Cats have been solely dependant on Jermaine Defoe for goals this season, and this could come to haunt them, should the England international be sidelined through injury.
