Liverpool have been keeping a close eye on Hoffenheim defender Fabian Schar during the international break.
Schar has had an indifferent start to the new season, but this has not diminished interest among his suitors.
According to The Star, Reds boss Jurgen Klopp had sent his scouts to watch the player in action during Switzerland's World Cup qualifiers against Hungary and Andorra this month.
Schar has been a long-term target for Klopp with the German having previously tracked the centre-half in his time at Borussia Dortmund.
The 24-year-old, who was previously on the radar of Arsenal, is also a transfer target for Italian side Inter Milan in the New Year.
Hoffenheim are likely to demand a fee in the region of £16m for their asset given he still has three years left on his existing contract.
