Yapi Yapo to Wigan?

Yapi Yapo to Wigan?

26 January 2008 - 11:38

Wigan are reportedly close to sealing the signing of Gilles Yapi Yapo, an Ivory Coast international footballer who came through the same academy as Arsenal star Emmanuel Eboue and several other Ivorians.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Former Chelsea boss to replace Erik ten Hag at Man Utd?

  • Recommended by Arsene Wenger, apparently Steve Bruce is keen to add Yapi Yapo to his squad before the end of the January transfer window.

Yapi Yapo has had an excellent African Nations so far, in fact scoring against Benin in the Ivory Coast's last game.

However, Bruce is keen to sign the playmaker as soon as possible as he puts the finishing touches to the £2.3 million move.

Yapi Yapo is currently playing in Switzerland with Young Boys, but previously spent time playing in Ligue 1 with Nantes and prior to that, Belgian side Beveren.
