Chelsea yet to decide on Mikel's future

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has revealed his side are yet to open up contract negotiations with midfielder Mikel John Obi. The 29-year-old has yet to kick the ball for the Blues this season.

  • Fabrizio Romano updates on Nicolas Jackson's future at Chelsea
  • Arsenal suffer big injury blow ahead of Fulham game
  • The Nigerian international is approaching the final six months of his contract at Stamford Bridge, and there are suggestions he could be offloaded on a cut-price deal in the New Year.

While being questioned on Mikel's situation, Conte insisted that the club's performances remain his focus for the moment, and it is up to the hierarchy to decide on the player's future.

Mikel is currently the second longest serving player for the Blues behind John Terry. He has appeared in 372 outings for his side since arriving from Lyn a decade ago under controversial circumstances.
