Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has opted against a move for Kalidou Koulibaly in the January transfer window. The Senegalese international is expected to miss a month's action due to his participation at the African Cup of Nations.

  • Koulibaly, 25, was strongly linked with a move to Stamford Bridge in the summer with the club willing to pay as much as £45m for his services.

However, the player opted against the transfer as he had doubts over how the club would perform under Antonio Conte following a dismal season last term.

According to The Sun, Conte has stalled on a bid for Koulibaly until next summer due to the cenre-back's commitments with Senegal midway through the current season.

Koulibaly only penned a fresh five-year deal with Napoli this season, and Chelsea would have to cough up a club-record £50m fee to secure his signature in the future.
