Manchester United have emerged as frontrunners to sign Benfica star Victor Lindelof after they held initial talks with the Portuguese champions.
According to The Record, the Sweden international could be on his way to Old Trafford in January after Jose Mourinho agreed to pay the player's full valuation.
Benfica have previously rejected an offer of around &pound30m plus bonuses from United, but the Old Trafford outfit will now hand over a &pound50m sum in order to land the centre-back's signature.
United's hierarchy were initially reluctant to spend big during the winter transfer window, but Mourinho has managed to convince them that he can turn his side into title contenders in the second half of the campaign.
Lindelof has featured in 15 outings for Benfica this season, whilst he is also a regular with the Sweden national side.
