West Bromwich Albion midfielder Darren Fletcher could extend his stay with the Baggies by a further 12 months. The Scotland international has a clause in his contract which is likely to triggered by the end of the season.

  • Predicted Chelsea line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Aston Villa, Palmer starts

  • The 32-year-old joined the Baggies from Manchester United in February 2015, and has since established himself as a regular whilst also earning the captain's armband.

At his pre-match press conference, Pulis revealed that Fletcher is close to activating a clause in his deal which would see him prolong his stay at the Hawthorns by an additional year.

"Darren has a clause in his contract, I believe, where if he plays a certain amount of games he gets an extension," he told reporters.

Fletcher's career was plagued by health problems during his time at Old Trafford, but he has managed to overcome those issues to amass 67 consecutive league appearances at West Bromwich Albion.

West Bromwich Albion face a difficult test on Sunday afternoon when they take on an attack-minded Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League.
