Dimitri Payet set for West Ham stay?

21 January 2017 - 06:15

France international Dimitri Payet could be forced to stay at West Ham United for the season after Marseille dropped their interest in the player.

  • Man Utd expecting €80m boost with double player sale
  • Confirmed Liverpool line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Galatasaray, Salah starts

  • The 29-year-old has been reluctant to take the playing field for the Hammers as he bids to make a return home with former club Marseille.

Les Phoceens have been in discussions with the East London outfit over the past week, and it is said that their latest offer of &pound20m is still short of the Hammers' &pound29m asking price.

According to Sky Sports News, the French club have decided to stall on their pursuit for the attacker as they are unwilling to bid more than &pound25m for a player, who will be 30 this March.

Payet has also received lucrative offers from the Chinese Super League this month, but he is focused on sealing a move to Marseille due to family reasons.

The Frenchman is currently training with the West Ham under-23 side as he has no intention of featuring for Slaven Bilic's side in the near future.
