Arsenal to announce Cazorla extension

Arsenal extend Santi Cazorla stay

21 January 2017 - 18:48

Arsenal have reportedly exercised an option in Santi Cazorla's contract which will see him remain at the Emirates until June 2018. The Gunners are yet to release an official statement over the player's extension.

  • Arsenal handed injury boost on defender ahead of Bournemouth clash
  • Chelsea planning shock move for Man City winger?

  • Cazorla, 32, has had his fair share of injury issues in recent seasons, and his latest leg injury has forced him to miss more than four months of first-team action.

Club-captain Per Mertesacker was offered a one-year extension earlier in the week, and according to a document on the FA's website, the Gunners have decided to do the same with their Spaniard.

The former Malaga man will now stay with the club until the summer of 2018 and will seek to regain his spot once he returns from his injury setback.

Cazorla has amassed over 125 league appearances for Arsenal since his £10m move in 2012.
