Heskey chasing Wigan survival

Heskey chasing Wigan survival

30 January 2008 - 17:51

Emile Heskey has said that his main focus is securing survival in the Premiership with Wigan as opposed to the onlooking Fabio Capello who has been monitoring him closely in recent games.

  • Chelsea defender on his way to Leeds United?
  • Chelsea ready to hand Nicolas Jackson fresh chance
  • "At the moment my priority is helping Wigan stay up, and I want to be performing well enough to drag us out of the bottom three.

"If the England call comes, it comes - that would be great. But I have to concentrate on us getting some more points."

"We were very lethargic from back to front in the first half and lucky to go in only 1-0 down," said Heskey.

"The gaffer had a few words at half-time and we rallied round and had a good go in the second half.

"We were much better but still couldn't get the point which maybe we deserved."

"I wasn't aware Mr Capello was at the game until afterwards.

"But it's always nice when the England manager watches you. "
