  • The 38-year-old called quits on his illustrious playing career earlier in the month following a stint with New York City FC.

Lampard has recently been called up by the Football Association to nurture youngsters at St.George's Park, but according to The Times, the Blues' hierarchy are now prepared to offer him a 'senior ambassadorial role' at Stamford Bridge.

The legendary midfielder is currently completing his coaching badges in west London, and the Blues hope to keep their record goalscorer at the club for many years to come.

Lampard will be reunited with former teammates Carlo Cudicini, Paulo Ferreira and Henrique Hilario, should he accept a coaching stint in the coming months.
