Wednesday Night CL Preview: Sevilla V Leicester

Ranieri's Leicester are huge underdogs for tonight's match

Wednesday Night CL Preview: Sevilla V Leicester

22 February 2017 - 09:40

Claudio Ranieri takes his Leicester City side to Spain tonight, as the Foxes look to put their Premier League woes on hold, as they look to defy the odds once again to overcome Sevilla.

  • Arsenal to swap Gabriel Jesus for Inter Milan star?
  • Arsenal leading race to sign Belgian midfielder

  • Leicester sit in 17th place in the Premier League, just one place and one point above the relegation zone, a huge contrast to this time last season, where they were on their way to winning the league. They also come into this tie in terrible form, having lost four of their last five games in all competitions. Before you write off the East Midlands club however, they have won four of their six games in the Champions League so far this season.

Alongside their aspirations of reaching the next round, Ranieri also believes that a victory tonight could kickstart a run of form in domestic fixtures too. The Italian says "this game could be everything. If we win, something could change. We need one match like this."

It will certainly not be easy for Leicester though, with Sevilla, who thrive on the European competitions, currently sitting third in La Liga, having only lost two home games all season, one against Barcelona, and secondly a Champions League match against Juventus.

Sevilla certainly go into this match as favourites, but Leicester are no strangers to causing an upset.
