Cazorla Out For The Season

Cazorla has been ruled out for the season

Cazorla Out For The Season

23 February 2017 - 10:00

Arsenal midfielder Santi Cazorla has had a further injury setback, and will miss the remainder of the season with an ankle injury.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Former Chelsea boss to replace Erik ten Hag at Man Utd?

  • Cazorla last played for Arsenal in a Champions League match against Ludogorets in October, where he was substituted after a knock to his ankle.

The Spanish midfielder was initially rested for a few weeks to let the injury recover, however it was later discovered that he would require surgery.

Following the surgery in December, it was expected that Cazorla would be out for a further three months, however Arsene Wenger explained last month that it was going to take longer than initially thought. Now Cazorla has revealed that he will completely miss the remainder of the season, aiming to be fully fit for the start of next season.

Cazorla is highly popular with the Arsenal fans, and has performed well since joining the Gunners from Malaga in 2012. Since then, Cazorla has made 180 appearances for the club, scoring 29 goals.

This is just the latest blow in what has been a frustrating season for Arsenal, who next face Liverpool on 4th March.
