Everton sign Gardner

Everton sign Gardner

01 February 2008 - 00:29

Everton have completed the loan signing of Anthony Gardner from Tottenham. The player had fallen further down the pecking order at Spurs following the signing of Hutton and Woodgate.

  • Chelsea prepared to sell £40m striker with Newcastle keen
  • Liam Rosenior confirms Chelsea star is out for six weeks
  • "Gardner will meet his new team-mates at Finch Farm on Friday morning and will be included in David Moyes' squad for the weekend visit to Blackburn Rovers," read a club statement.

"However, he will not be eligible to play any part in Everton's UEFA Cup campaign having already appeared for Spurs in the competition this season."

Everton boss David Moyes moved swiftly to sign Gardner after allowing veteran defender Alan Stubbs to join Derby County earlier on transfer deadline day.
