Ghanaian international Gerald Asamoah has signed a new three year contract at Schalke despite rumours that the frontman might be looking for a move away from the club.

  • Arsenal suffer big injury blow ahead of Fulham game
  • Asamoah’s contract was due to expire in the summer, but his impressive displays have earned the Ghana-born forward a new engagement until June 2011.

“We are happy to be able to continue with Gerald,” general manager Andreas Mueller declared.

“He has been a major factor in our performances since 1999 and his values are ours.

“He is a fans’ favourite and Asa is very important for us.”

The player added on the club’s official website: “Schalke are family, and I want to finish my career at the club.”
