German champions Bayern Munich will seek to lure Granit Xhaka back to the Bundesliga following a frustrating debut season at Arsenal.
The Swiss footballer has struggled to make a huge impression at the Emirates this season with his performances in the 10-2 aggregate defeat to Bayern showcasing the best and worst of his abilities.
Former Bayern boss Ottmar Hitzfeld, via ESPN suggests that the Bundesliga holders will have an eye on the midfield anchorman with Xabi Alonso due to retire at the end of the campaign.
Xhaka had skippered former club Borussia Monchengladbach to key results against the Bavarian giants, and Ottmar believes that the 24-year-old will be topping their wishlist during the summer transfer window.
Nevertheless, the Gunners will most probably block the departure of their key midfielder as he still has the potential to match his showing during the European championships last summer.
Xhaka has found his old self in Arsene Wenger's changed 4-3-3 formation in recent games, and this could be the start of a lengthy career at the north London club.
