West Ham United extend Adrian stay

West Ham opt to activate one-year clause on Adrian's contract

West Ham United extend Adrian stay

13 March 2017 - 06:25

West Ham United have decided to activate the one-year extension in Adrian's contract despite his sparse playing time since the turn of the year.

  • Chelsea duo return to partial team training
  • Chelsea planning to sell Sterling to sign Crystal Palace star?

  • The 30-year-old lost his place to Darren Randolph during the first half of the campaign and has since been a regular substitute for the east London club.

Adrian has not featured for the Hammers in the league since early November while his only start since has come in the FA Cup which resulted in a 5-0 defeat against Manchester City at home.

Hammers boss Slaven Bilic had insisted earlier last month that he was content with his goalkeeping options, and the club have now activated a clause which extends Adrian's contract until the summer of 2018, The Sun reports.

Adrian, who has seen the highs and lows of his career at West Ham, has appeared in 118 outings for the club since his move from Real Betis in 2013.

He earned his maiden call up to the La Roja setup in August following his impressive displays for West Ham during the previous campaign.
