Chelsea and City to compete for Juve signing

13 March 2017 - 17:58

Chelsea and Manchester City are set to battle it out for the signature of a Juventus attacking player that is currently on loan at Bayern Munich. Reports today suggest that Chelsea may have already made an offer in the region of £50 million, in an attempt to get ahead of their rivals.

  • Kingsley Coman is currently on loan at Bayern Munich from Juventus for the second consecutive season. As part of that deal, Bayern have an option to follow up the loan spell with a permanent deal, for an additional fee of roughly £18 million. However, as part of the agreement, Coman can decline the opportunity to join the German giants, which has put other teams on alert.

Coman has found it difficult to establish himself in the Bayern Munich team this season, after having a successful period whilst under the management of Pep Guardiola. The Frenchman has started just five games for Bayern this season, which suggests that neither parties will be keen on making the deal permanent.

Premier League clubs Chelsea and Manchester City are both interested in signing Coman, with Juventus wanting a fee of £50-£60 million. French outlet TF1 reports today that Chelsea have already tabled a bid. However, the opportunity to play for Guardiola again may lead Coman to opting for a move to Manchester.
