Italian midfielder Marco Verratti is prepared to call quits on his Paris Saint-Germain career following their dismal 6-5 aggregate defeat at the hands of Barcelona in the Champions League, last 16.
Les Parisiens had held a 4-0 lead from the first-leg of the elite competition, but they somehow managed to give up their advantage as a last-minute strike from Sergi Roberto clinched a 6-1 victory at Camp Nou to guarantee Barcelona's passage to the quarter-final stage.
According to The Sun, Verratti has signalled his agent to push for an exit after he saw his side slump to one of their worst defeats in their history.
Veratti had previously suggested that he would like to lift the Champions League crown at Parc des Princes, but he has had to rethink his decision following the latest setback in Europe.
Barcelona are expected to lead the race for the midfield anchorman due to his admiration for the club, but United remains a close second in the pursuit as they seek to add a world-class midfielder to their ranks this summer.
