Newcastle United are prepared to revive their interest in Fulham midfielder Tom Cairney when the season comes to a close.
The Tyneside outfit enquired over the possibility of signing the 26-year-old during the winter transfer window but were put off by Fulham's £20m valuation.
According to The Mail, the Magpies will return with a fresh approach for the midfielder during the off-season should they attain promotion to the Premier League in the first coming.
It is added that a £12m sum would be sufficient to lure Cairney to St.James Park this summer, and the £20m fee was earlier quoted owing to the Cottagers' own promotion hopes.
With just eight games left in the season, Newcastle lead the Championship table with a seven-point lead over third-placed Huddersfield Town.
Cairney has earned plaudits for his excellent progress in a Fulham shirt this season - netting nine goals and assisting a further nine in 37 league outings.
This has, in hand, earned him his maiden call-up with Scotland for the internationals against Canada and Slovenia.
