Sven: Benjani frustration

Sven: Benjani frustration

02 February 2008 - 00:54

Sven-Goran Eriksson has admitted he is frustrated that he does not yet know whether he can sign Benjani for Man City from Portsmouth after the two clubs failed to agree terms before the end of the transfer window.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Former Chelsea boss to replace Erik ten Hag at Man Utd?

  • Eriksson said, "I was supposed to meet Benjani at 5.30, he didn’t arrive, so I said ‘when will he arrive then?’

“They said nine o’clock, so I said I’ll arrive at nine then, but then I’m told he didn’t arrive until 11.15.

“I don’t know exactly what’s happening, we’ll have to wait and see. I hope he can still sign.

“It’s a little bit crazy I would say. “I suppose he wants to join us, otherwise why would he come here?

“But I haven’t spoken to the player so I don’t know. I don’t know why he was late, maybe something to do with a plane or something.

“I suppose we’ll hear a final verdict today. I would like to have him in the squad. Last night I was a happy man, but this morning - just more confusion.”
