Arsenal full-back Hector Bellerin is understood to have held a secret meeting with Barcelona sporting director Robert Fernandez prior to the international break.

  • Erik ten Hag confirms triple Man Utd injury boost for Newcastle game

  • The Spain international has been continuously linked with a move back to Camp Nou despite penning a new six-year contract earlier in the season.

Bellerin has recently admitted the link from his former club is 'Special' and The Express reveals that the right-back met up with Fernandez over a suitable transfer.

Fernandez has ruled out the possibility of signing Bellerin in the summer transfer window, but a move could be on the cards next year, should Arsenal fail to do proper business in the transfer market.

Bellerin, who joined the Gunners from the famous La Masia academy in 2011, has established himself as the first-choice right-back at the Emirates after replacing an injured Mathieu Debuchy during the 2014-15 season.

He is currently just outside the mix for the Spanish squad, and he will be hoping to put up a string of good performances in the next year in order to make the cut for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
