Chelsea to beat Man Utd to Andrea Belotti?

Italy international Andrea Belotti could reject the opportunity of joining Manchester United this summer, should they fail to qualify for next season's Champions League. Chelsea are regarded as frontrunners in the striker's pursuit.

  • Belotti, 23, has turned heads across Europe this season following an impressive campaign where he has netted 25 goals in the Italian Serie A.

The Torino man currently has a £84m release clause in his contract, and this clearly suggests that he will be allowed to leave, should any club decide to trigger his valuation.

According to Sky Sports, the Italian could be leaning towards a move to Chelsea with the prospect of Champions League football up for grabs next season.

League rivals Manchester United have also been credited with an interest in the marksman (via The Star), but it seems that their chase could be wholly dependent on their European status next term.

United have already qualified for the Europa League via their EFL Cup triumph, but it is the Champions League which will attract a player of Belotti's calibre.

Jose Mourinho's side can guarantee their place in the elite competition via a top-four finish in the Premier League or by securing the Europa League title this term.
