Gabriel Agbonlahor will miss England's friendly match with Switzerland on Wednesday after limping off during Aston Villa's game with Fulham at half-time with a hamstring injury.
"He was fouled and came down and felt his hamstring a little bit," Aston Villa boss Martin O'Neill said.
"He's sore at the moment. He did try it out just before the second half and he was feeling it so we decided not to take any risks.
"I would have thought it would be highly unlikely (that he will join up with the squad).
"He has a hamstring strain, or a pull. I wouldn't have any objections to him reporting to England, that would be nice for him, but I can't see him playing,
"He's very, very disappointed obviously, it was a major boost for him and he thoroughly deserved it."
