Perez open to Depor comeback

Arsenal striker plots La Liga return

08 May 2017 - 14:41

Arsenal striker Lucas Perez is reportedly eyeing an early return to Deportivo La Coruna after having failed to establish himself as a regular under Arsene Wenger.

  • Arsenal to swap Gabriel Jesus for Inter Milan star?
  • Arsenal leading race to sign Belgian midfielder

  • The Spaniard joined the north London outfit from the Spanish club last summer after they managed to activate the £17.3m release clause on his contract.

Since then, Perez has had to contend with a role from the substitutes' bench with injuries denting his chances of earning playing time altogether.

According to The Guardian, the Spaniard will push for a return to A Coruna despite earlier suggesting his aim of playing in Europe.

"I would like to prove that I've got the quality to win things with Arsenal," he told La Voz de Galicia.

"But if the moment comes when I can't do that any more, or if they decide to transfer me, there is always the opportunity to go back to Depor."

With the World Cup coming along next year, Perez would undoubtedly want to make an impression, and this could pave way for a potential return to Deportivo, where he fared well with 17 league goals last term.

Perez has bagged just a solitary goal in 11 league outings for Arsenal this season with most of his contribution coming in the Cup and European games.
