Chelsea hero Michy Batshuayis future uncertain at Stamford Bridge

Michy Batshuayi might be sold this summer

Chelsea hero Michy Batshuayi's future uncertain at Stamford Bridge

15 May 2017 - 08:17

Chelsea's unlikely hero might be shown the exit door to create space and fund the impending transfer of Romelu Lukaku

  • Arsenal make surprise decision on Viktor Gyokeres
  • Arsenal to battle Napoli to sign Alexsandro Ribeiro?

  • The 23 year old Belgian striker was the unlikely hero for Chelsea, scoring the winner in the Blues' match against West Brom which clinched the Premier League title. However, it was only Batshuayi's second goal of the season after a £33 million move from Marseille last summer. In addition, he has not been able to start a game for the Blues.

Both the Mirror and the Telegraph are reporting that he could be shown the exit door after failing to justify his hefty price tag and also to fund the transfer of fellow Belgian, Romelu Lukaku.

With Diego Costa poised to make a summer move to the Chinese Super League after being offered an immense £650,000-a-week deal after tax by mega-rich club Tianjin Quanjian, Batshuayi could be used as a bargaining chip in landing Lukaku from Everton as they would most certainly require a striker after Lukaku's departure.

Other clubs have expressed interest with West Ham, whom Chelsea beat for Batshuayi's signature, still keen on the forward. They will face competition from Marseille and Monaco, who want to bring the Belgian back to Ligue 1.

Antonio Conte will likely evaluate the forward's future after the final two games of the season.
