Everton could sell Ross Barkley this summer

Everton will keep hold of Barkley unless they receive a £50m offer

Everton could sell Ross Barkley this summer

25 May 2017 - 10:12

Everton will reportedly consider parting ways with midfielder Ross Barkley, should any club match their asking price of £50m.

  • Predicted Chelsea line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Spurs, Gilchrist starts
  • Chelsea midfielder looking forward to London derby vs Spurs

  • The England international is keen to become the Toffees' highest paid footballer, and this has stalled negotiations over a new deal despite the player approaching the final year of their contract.

According to The Mirror, the club's hierarchy are assessing the player's interest, but they are unlikely to accept offers less than £50m for the playmaker.

Both Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur have been touted as possible destinations for Barkley in recent weeks, but neither appears keen on meeting the Toffees demands.

As a result, the Merseyside outfit could keep hold of Barkley for next season even if they lose him for nothing in the summer of 2018.

Barkley, 23, had a decent to good season with Everton last term after having netted five goals and assisted a further eight in 36 outings for Ronald Koeman's side.

He has often been ignored for a Three Lions start despite his regular callups, and this is something he will seek to resolve with better performances next season.
