Everton want £50 million for England international

Ross Barkley has rejected a new contract offer from Everton

Everton want £50 million for England international

Everton bosses have been working for the best part of a year to try and persuade Ross Barkley to stay at Goodison Park, but it appears to have failed, with the club now reluctantly willing to listen to offers for the England international.

  • Mauricio Pochettino confirms fresh injury blow for Chelsea star
  • Arsenal want to make four marquee signings this summer

  • Barkley is a product of the Everton youth academy, which has made him a big favourite with the supporters. Manager Ronald Koeman has insisted that he will not keep any players who are not fully committed to the team, and Barkley appears to have fallen into that category.

Good times may lie ahead for Everton, who look set to spend big in the summer, in an attempt to break into the Premier League's top four. The Toffees are desperate to keep hold of Barkley and Romelu Lukaku in addition to the new signings, but they look set to lose both.

Despite Koeman's hard stance on the situation, Everton chiefs are said to be doing everything that they can to keep twenty-three-year-old at the club. The England midfielder would much prefer a move to either Tottenham on Manchester United, according to the Mirror, something that Everton may have to accept.

The Merseyside club will only sell Barkley for £50 million or more this summer, telling the interested clubs that they will not get him cheaply. The risk that Everton run by doing this is that none of the clubs makes an acceptable offer, which would allow Barkley to leave for free next summer.
