The final team to book their place in the 2017/18 Premier League was revealed on Monday, when Huddersfield Town edged out Reading in the Championship play-off final to become a Premier League team for the first time.

  • Arsenal to swap Gabriel Jesus for Inter Milan star?
  • Arsenal leading race to sign Belgian midfielder

  • Huddersfield Town were last in the top flight of English football forty five years ago and as they took on Reading on Monday, it really could have gone either way.

When the match was still goalless after extra time, it came down to a penalty shootout to decide who would face another season in the Championship and who would experience the elation of promotion.

In the lottery that is the penalty shootout, it was The Terriers who came out on top, winning 4-3 when Christopher Schindler converted Huddersfield's final penalty.

After finishing 19th in the Championship last season, very few people expected much more from Huddersfield Town this season. Manager David Wagner and his players have shocked everyone all season long, and they now find themselves in the Premier League, with a victory that is said to be worth around £170 million.
