Liverpool complete deal for Chelsea striker

30 May 2017 - 20:12

Young Chelsea striker Dominic Solanke has failed to agree a new deal with the Premier League champions and has instead agreed to move north to sign for Liverpool.

  • Man Utd star to sign new contract in next 24 hours
  • Napoli & Atletico want to sign Man Utd star for £24m

  • Solanke, who is just nineteen-years-old, made just one first team appearance for Chelsea and feels that he must leave Stamford Bridge if he is to continue to progress in his career.

The youngster is currently representing England under-20's in the World Cup in South Korea. England have progressed through the group stages and will next take on Costa Rica in the round of 16.

Jurgen Klopp has been impressed with the talent that Solanke has and was keen to complete a deal before other clubs could approach him. There will be no fee for the deal, but because of Solanke's age, a tribunal will decide a fee that will be paid to Chelsea, which is expected to be around £3 million. The move will be completed on 1st July, when his current contract with Chelsea expires.

Solanke spent the 2015-16 season on loan at Vitesse, where he made twenty-five appearances for the Dutch club, scoring seven goals.
