Isco close to agreeing Real Madrid extension

Isco on cusp of new Real deal

Isco close to agreeing Real Madrid extension

13 June 2017 - 05:17

Spain international Isco has admitted that he is content with his stay at Real Madrid as he prepares to commit his long-term future to the European champions.

  • Chelsea & Man City interested in Crystal Palace star
  • Chelsea ready to make fresh move for Kenan Yildiz

  • The former Malaga man attempted to quell speculation over his future last month after he suggested he could extend his Real stay beyond the summer transfer window.

Isco was used as a replacement for the injured Gareth Bale in the dying stages of last season, and his performances were key to the club clinching a Champions League and La Liga double.

Speaking to Teledeporte, the 25-year-old insisted that he is close to a contract renewal, which could, in turn, end any impending interest in his signature, he said: "I have already said we are close [to a renewal]. I am very happy in Madrid and hope to be there for many years. Now it is time to rest as the season has been very long."

Tottenham Hotspur and arch-rivals Barcelona have previously been touted as potential destinations for the attacker, but Isco is willing to stay put at the Bernabeu with his form influencing his place in the national team.

Isco played the full 90 minutes of the key World Cup qualifier against Macedonia as Spain won by a 2-1 scoreline to maintain their lead over Italy on goal difference.
