Serie A giants AS Roma have told Liverpool to forget about the signing of Egyptian winger Mohamed Salah unless they are willing to match their current valuation.
Jurgen Klopp's side are understood to have placed a £26m bid for the attacker, who bagged 19 goals for the Giallorossi last term.
However, the fee is substantially lower that the £36m asking price and this had stalled negotiations over a proposed move.
The Merseyside outfit had first pursued the 24-year-old during his time at Basel, but they were outbid by league rivals Chelsea, who came with a £11m to clinch his signature.
Salah has since moved on from the west London club to pursue loan deals with Fiorentina and AS Roma before his move to the latter was made permanent last year.
The attacker is undoubtedly in the prime of his professional career, and the Italian outfit are reluctant to offload their asset unless the Reds accept to their transfer demands.
