Premier League champions Chelsea have made a club-record offer to sign Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly in the summer transfer window.
The Senegal international had been the subject of multiple bids from the Blues last summer with their highest offer of £40m being knocked back due to the player's intention to remain in Naples.
Koulibaly followed to ink a new five-year deal with Napoli and this has further increased his valuation following another top season in the Serie A.
TuttoMercatoWeb claims that the Blues have returned with £52.4m bid for the French-born defender, but they are likely to be left disappointed with Napoli in no mood to sell.
Both Dries Mertens and Lorenzo Insigne have committed their futures to Napoli in recent weeks, and the club are in a good position to end Juventus' long dominance in the Serie A.
Juventus won their sixth straight Scudetto last season, but they could face a better challenge next term with both Napoli and Roma bridging the gap between themselves and the Old Lady.
Koulibaly bagged a total of 38 appearances for Napoli last term, as they finished in third place, five points adrift of the eventual champions.
