Man Utd agree deal with Monaco for Brazilian midfielder

23 June 2017 - 07:39

Manchester United are reportedly close to sealing the signature of AS Monaco midfielder Fabinho. The Brazil international has been on the Red Devils radar since the start of last season.

  • Chelsea ready to sell four home-grown players
  • Predicted Chelsea line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Aston Villa, Palmer starts

  • Jose Mourinho has courted a keen interest in Fabinho over the past year or so, and according to Corriere dello Sport, United have agreed on a £35m package for his proposed transfer.

The Europa League leaders will pay up an initial £30.6m for the player's signature with an additional £4.4m due to be settled in add-ons.

Fabinho was initially seen as a potential candidate to bolster the right-back position last summer, but he has since progressed well in the central midfield department, which has in turn revived Mourinho's interest.

With Michael Carrick approaching probably the final year of his professional career, United are looking into the future with Fabinho likely to evolved into a top-class prospect for club and country.

Fabinho bagged nine goals and three assists for the Principality outfit, who ended their 17-year wait for the Ligue 1 title last term.

He was initially linked with a proposed move to cross-city rivals Manchester City, but Pep Guardiola's side have opted to look elsewhere for potential recruits.
