Depoitre makes Huddersfield move

Huddersfield Town sign Laurent Depoitre

24 June 2017 - 10:45

Newly promoted Premier League team Huddersfield Town today completed a move for Belgium international striker Laurent Depoitre. Huddersfield Town smashed their transfer record to bring in the striker from Portuguese giants FC Porto.

  • Mikel Arteta insists 27yo star won't be leaving Arsenal
  • Omari Hutchinson wants to continue at Ipswich Town

  • Porto had only brought in Depoitre last season from FC Gent in Belgium and the striker played in just 7 league games for the Portuguese side before being allowed to leave for the Premier League this summer.

Tottenham Hotspur had been linked with a move for Depoitre back in 2015 but the striker, who has 1 cap and 1 goal for his country, decided to move to Porto instead.

Huddersfield Town is also on the verge of completing a move for midfielder Aaron Mooy from Manchester City and are expected to be very active in the transfer market this season. There are high hopes that Depoitre will be an important member of their season for 2017/18.

Depoitre has signed a three year contract. The 6 foot 3 striker had spent his whole career in his homeland before making a move for Portugal.
