Yakubu dropped for late return

08 February 2008 - 16:54

Yakubu has been dropped for the weekend's Premiership game by David Moyes. The Everton forward was due to return from the African Cup of Nations but returned late, and is expected to be fined what is believed to be two weeks wages - around £80,000.

  • Yakubu turned up at the club's Finch Farm training ground on Friday morning, two days later than anticipated.

Moyes said: "All I would say is that it is an internal matter. Yak has been in this morning, I have spoken to him and he won't be included in tomorrow's squad."

On the other hand, Nigerian defender Joseph Yobo returned on time - believed to be Wednesday.
