Big Premiership Sunday

Big Premiership Sunday

19 August 2007 - 11:10

The big Premiership Sunday finished with Man City recording a fantastic 1-0 victory over city rivals Man Utd thanks to a deflected goal from Brazilian Geovanni. In the other game Liverpool and Chelsea battled to a 1-1 draw, with Torres scoring his first goal for the club.

  • Chelsea midfielder looking forward to London derby vs Spurs
  • Arsenal in the front row to sign Dutch striker

  • Man City rarely threatened Alex Ferguson's side and Man Utd controlled throughout. In particular, Nani looked very impressive, while Tevez missed an open goal late on. Geovanni scored the all important goal with a deflected strike from 25 yards. Micah Richards was incredible at the back and Dunne alongside was similarly impressive. However, Man City held on for a fantastic victory.

In the other big game, Liverpool and Chelsea battled to a 1-1 draw with Torres scoring a goal battling past Ben Haim to slip the ball into the corner of Cech's net. Lampard equalised with a very controversial penalty which was given after Malouda was adjudged to be fouled in the box. The game will be remembered more for the referee's willingness to give out yellow cards than the football on display.
