Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is today expected to complete a move from Arsenal to Chelsea, signing a five-year contract at Stamford Bridge. Despite the Gunners' best efforts, the England international has decided to seek a new challenge at the Premier League champions.
Arsene Wenger made his final offer of £180,000 to Oxlade-Chamberlain last week, which has been rejected by the midfielder who favours a move to West London rivals Chelsea. Antonio Conte had indicated at the beginning of last week that he would like to sign four new players and will start his busy transfer window closing with a move for Arsenal man Oxlade-Chamberlain.
According to the BBC, Oxlade-Chamberlain's deal will cost Chelsea approximately £35 million and it is understood Arsenal could use these transfer funds to sign Riyad Mahrez as a replacement for the England international.
Oxlade-Chamberlain has rejected Liverpool in favour of a move to Chelsea and a deal is expected to be announced on Tuesday afternoon at a Chelsea press conference.
Oxlade-Chamberlain played 62 minutes of Arsenal's devastating 4-0 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield last Sunday afternoon.
