Jonny Evans: set for a transfer move

West Brom reject latest Leicester City offer for Evans

WBA manager Tony Pulis has rejected Leicester City's newest bid for defender Jonny Evans. The centre-back has informed club officials at West Brom that he would like to leave the club for a new challenge.

  • Arsenal want to make four marquee signings this summer

  • Reports suggest that Leicester City's latest bid of £30 million has been turned down by West Brom and that Evans, despite his best efforts to push through a transfer deal elsewhere, will potentially need to stay put for this campaign.

Man City were also amongst the teams chasing the former Man Utd defender but have informed WBA they will not improve their last transfer offer for the player, believed to be in the region of £25 million.

Evans currently has a three year deal at West Brom and his club are in no rush to sell the defender.

Leicester City are looking to sign a new centre-back to replace Robert Huth, who could be set for a surprise move back to his homeland of Germany to Borussia Dortmund.

"Obviously, there's been a bit of speculation around my future here but from my point of view, it's very simple. All I've been concentrating on is getting fit and getting back out on the pitch and doing my bit for the team," Evans said when asked about a potential transfer move.

"Every window there's always speculation over transfers but as players these things are often out of your control and it's best not to think about it too much.

"Until anybody tells me different, I'm only committed to Albion and I'm only thinking about getting in this team. It's a great club and and I'm proud to be captain."
