Jack Wilshere expresses his desire to stay at Arsenal

30 September 2017 - 11:31

England international Jack Wilshere has admitted that he would like to stay put at Arsenal after impressing in the 4-2 Europa League win over BATE Borisov in midweek.

  • Nottingham Forest agree deal to sign Chelsea target
  • Chelsea now want to sign West Ham star after Joao Pedro

  • Wilshere, 25, has just nine months left on his contract, and talks over an extension are said to have stalled with the midfielder wanting assurances of regular Premier League football.

The Stevenage-born ace has played the full 90 minutes in the games against Doncaster Rovers and Borisov, and he feels that he is ready for a regular run of games across all competitions.

In a report covered by The Guardian, he said: "Do I see myself staying? Of course I do. I have always been at Arsenal, I love this club. I definitely feel I’m back."

Meanwhile, Wilshere has failed to make the England national side since the disappointing 2-1 defeat to Iceland in Euro 2016, but he remains hopeful of making the World Cup squad with regular league action under Arsene Wenger.

"I am getting back to full fitness and of course I want to be part of that. I have only played two 90s in four or five months. When I am fit and playing in the Premier League, we will see," he added.

Wilshere has managed 162 appearances for the north London giants since making his first-team debut at the tender age of 16 in 2008.
