Manchester United receive injury boost for Liverpool game

Manchester United have received a much-needed injury boost ahead of their lunchtime Premier League kickoff against Liverpool on Saturday.

  • Mikel Arteta insists 27yo star won't be leaving Arsenal
  • Omari Hutchinson wants to continue at Ipswich Town

  • According to ESPN, the Red Devils are hoping to have the services of Phil Jones, who is currently recovering from a minor knee injury.

The 25-year-old had suffered the problem prior to joining England on international duty, and Gareth Southgate, later on, dropped him from the squad as a precaution.

Jones has been a key member of the United lineup this season, having formed an excellent partnership alongside Eric Bailly at the heart of the defence. The Englishman has been ever-present in the Premier League, helping the club to six clean sheets in just seven matches.

The Red Devils are currently equal on points with league leaders Manchester City, and they could keep the pressure on their arch-rivals with a vital win versus Liverpool.

Manchester United are unbeaten in their last three league visits to Anfield, and they will hope to take advantage of Liverpool's defensive frailties to secure a positive result.
